Last month we held our very first Inspiration Kitchens – Garfield Park Chef Night, and it will be hard to top.

Our guests enjoyed the beautiful surroundings of Inspiration Kitchens – Garfield Park as a backdrop for the magnificent food prepared by Chef David Rosenthall and his students, Chef Koren Grievson of avec, Chef Mindy Segal of Hot Chocolate and Chef Stephanie Izard’s team from Girl and the Goat.  Each course was paired with a 3 Floyds beer.

The evening started with several passed appetizers created by Chef David and his students which included house-smoked oysters with cornmeal cracker, black-eyed pea hummus and pickled pepper.  Guests then sat down to the culinary delight of the first course of Diver Scallops with braised duck, Marcona almond butter, green papaya and green almond nouc cham prepared by Chef Stephanie’s team from Girl and the Goat.

With no time to waste for our hungry guests, the second fabulous course of Beef Short Rib with ramp farrotto from Chef Koren Grieveson appeared and then on to the delightful dessert of Lemon Chess Pie, Rhubarb Two Ways and Strawberry Milk from Chef Mindy.

To top off the dinner, our diners were pleasantly surprised with an after-dinner tasting of the always coveted Dark Lord Beer from 3 Floyds – fantastic!

And to make the evening even more memorable, critically acclaimed artist Tony Fitzpatrick generously donated one of his sought after etchings to each guest!

This excellent dinner also provided a unique opportunity for Inspiration Kitchens students to work with some of Chicago’s premier chefs, and 100% of ticket sales and proceeds benefit Inspiration Corporation and our award-winning programs.
