catalyst campaign
Through the Catalyst Campaign, Inspiration Corporation seeks to raise $6.55 million to expand and strengthen its services for homeless and low-income Chicagoans. Now in its public phase, the campaign has received gift commitments of $6.1 million or 93% of our goal. Please join us to help bring needed services and innovative resources to Chicago’s West Side.

Inspiration Kitchens™–Garfield Park
Inspiration Kitchens–Garfield Park, which opened on May 11, 2011, serves delicious, nutritious and affordable meals to the general public. In addition, meal “guest certificates” are distributed to working poor families through a network of community partners – including social service organizations, schools and religious congregations. Collaborators use the certificates as incentives, engagement tools or to supplement their participants’ budgets, a novel approach that helps collaborating groups do more with less.

The restaurant’s kitchen provides a site for training and transitional jobs associated with Inspiration Corporation’s award-winning Inspiration Kitchens food service training program, which has helped more than 500 homeless and low-income men and women gain the skills and experience they need to succeed in the food service industry.  It also allows Inspiration Corporation to expand the Inspiration Kitchens social enterprise into catering.

Inspiration Kitchens–Garfield Park is housed in a building owned without debt by Inspiration Corporation – our first real asset – which contributes to the agency’s financial stability.

The Paul & Mary Ann Judy Reserve Fund
The Paul & Mary Ann Judy Reserve Fund, named in honor of our supporters who inspired it, will provide an operating reserve to increase Inspiration Corporation’s financial stability and reduce debt-service expenses, allowing the organization to devote more revenue to program delivery. This fund would also allow Inspiration Corporation to respond to opportunities that are vital to the organization’s mission, for example helping to manage government grants. The Paul & Mary Ann Judy Reserve Fund is managed in accordance with the organization’s Investment and Reserve Policy, which prioritizes capital preservation.

Capital Campaign Expenses
Inspiration Corporation will execute the capital campaign without additional consultants or staff. Expenses include salaries, materials, hospitality and donor recognition, and overhead. Inspiration Corporation will allot 5% of each gift, up to the goal, to cover expenses.
