2. Retention Specialist
As part of the Supportive Services and Housing team, the Retention Specialist will provide case management and supportive services to program participants and support to the Housing Services Manager. The Retention Specialist is a full-time position and will involve local travel on a regular basis; therefore, access to a personal vehicle is required. Some of the major responsibilities of the Retention Specialist include: Identify housing opportunities and secure housing contracts; Engage housing tenants in supportive relationships; Assess housing candidates for appropriate placement; Provide tenancy support; Conduct home visits with tenants; Collect and record appropriate data as required by funders, the United Way, and government entities; and Ensure safe and livable conditions for tenants.

QUALIFICATIONS:High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelors in social work or related field preferred. Two years work experience in case management in nonprofit environment and/or significant life experience; Proficiency in Windows XP and Microsoft Office essential; Strong commitment to personal and professional development required; Excellent communication and assessment skills, ability to work effectively in a team environment; Candidates who have worked with homeless or impoverished populations preferred or candidates with relevant life experiences or who are formerly homeless will be equally considered for the position.

Available: July 2008
Reports to: Housing Services Manager
Salary: $28,000 - $30,000
Schedule: Full-time between the hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday through Friday (and other days and times as needed)
