After serving a short time in prison, Antonio was working on his GED when he enrolled in the Foodservice Training program. He graduated with flying colors, and now works as a line cook at Inspiration Kitchens – Garfield Park.

The Chef Trainer provides foodservice training to individuals with significant barriers to employment, including homelessness, extreme poverty and recent incarceration. The dynamic 13-week training program includes basic culinary instruction, certification in foodservice sanitation and hands-on experience at Inspiration Corporation’s social enterprise restaurant, Inspiration Kitchens.

No supervisory responsibilities.
Associate degree from an accredited cooking school or equivalent restaurant experience, Chicago Food Sanitation Manager Certificate. Computer skills essential.
Office location: East Garfield Park neighborhood (3504 W Lake St, Chicago 60624). Works varying hours, as required, including evenings and weekends.
