Andrea became homeless at 18 when her mother moved into an apartment without her and her sister. Andrea enrolled in Inspiration Corporation’s Housing program after having already completed one of the agency’s job training programs, and credits the stability of having her own place for the progress she has made toward her goals. Homeless Management Information System
Inspiration Corporation participates in the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). HMIS is a software system and database used by many agencies in Chicago that provide services to persons and families in need. HMIS is administered and governed by the Chicago Planning Council on Homelessness, which is staffed by the Chicago Alliance to End Homelessness. The information collected in HMIS helps improve service delivery, increase understanding of homelessness, and assess the effectiveness of homeless services in Chicago.
Agencies that use HMIS share basic information (such as Name, Social Security number, Date of Birth, Gender and Veteran Status) with other participating agencies. To view the official HMIS Privacy Packet that details participants' privacy rights, please click here.
