In December Inspiration Corporation partnered with Benevolent, a brand new web-based giving platform designed to offer donors the opportunity to make a direct connection with an individual through targeted giving.
Al is excited to be one of the first people featured on Benevolent.
Benevolent currently features several Inspiration Corporation participants who have one-time needs that are holding them back in their path to stability and success. By telling their stories on Benevolent, our participants are bringing attention to the struggles faced by Americans in poverty and asking members of the community to take an active role in helping them solve their problems and improve their lives.
One of the Inspiration Corporation participants featured on Benevolent, Al, started working as a waiter in 1978. In 1994 he lost his wife of 20 years to cancer and entered a downward spiral of addiction. Al became homeless for the first time last summer at the age of 51.
After a few months of living at a shelter, Al enrolled in employment preparation training at Inspiration Corporation with the goal of turning his life around. Now a graduate, he is participating in the Benevolent program to raise money for work clothes so that he can secure a new job in the restaurant industry.
