On Saturday, November 23, Inspiration Corporation opened its doors to the Woodlawn community as we held our Community Thanksgiving at The Living Room Cafe. It was a sunny, if not cold day for the festivities, where more than 350 members of the community enjoyed our annual Thanksgiving feast.

All of this is made possible through the generosity of Bank of America, whose support helps provide meals like this one and the many others served 365 days per year at The Living Room Cafe and Inspiration Cafe.

A meal including turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, greens, sweet potatoes, green beans, corn, rolls, and more desserts than anyone could count was given to everyone who walked through the door Saturday afternoon.  There was plenty of food to go around, as more than 150 meals of leftovers were packed up to be taken home as well. Volunteers helped keep people warm by passing out hot chocolate to those waiting outside, and DJ Joe Black kept the festivities moving inside as he spun tunes from yesterday and today.

This meal couldn’t be done without the help and support of many volunteers, including students and chefs from our Foodservice Training program, and a group from the Careers through Culinary Arts Program. The Grand Ballroom located above the cafe provided kitchen space, cooler space and supplies as well.
