More than 250 participants, their children, staff and volunteers helped Inspiration Corporation celebrate three, yes three separate holiday parties this week! The parties began on Monday night, as Inspiration Corporation moved its operations around the corner to the Truman College cafeteria to facilitate demand. Children and adults alike braved the snowy weather to enjoy a meal including turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, salad, pasta, greens, and a variety of desserts, prepared by Inspiration Corporation staff and students from the Foodservice Training program. Everyone who attended was treated to the special sounds of The Exceptions, the Northern Trust band. And, of course, the evening was capped off with a surprise visit from Santa Claus!

Two nights later, more adults and children on the South side were treated to a great meal, entertainment, gifts, and another surprise visit from Santa at The Living Room Cafe. Many of the same menu items appeared again on Wednesday, and demand for the party was so great that participants had to split up into two separate parties. Inspiration Corporation’s “go-to DJ”, Joe Black, was there to spin tunes and provide entertainment for all.

None of this would be possible without the tremendous support of staff, volunteers and donors who chipped-in to make these truly special occasions. Chefs Sharon and Jason of Inspiration Corporation prepared an endless number of pans of food. Volunteer support from Target, Latin School, CICS Northtown, University of Chicago Alumni, Build On, Chicago Cares and Bodhi Spiritual Center made sure everything ran smoothly and that decorations were hung with care. Gifts were generously provided by longtime supporters Mike Recine, Anne Coatsolonia and Eric Meredith. Additional food and desserts were provided by Spacca Napoli, Eli’s Cheesecake and Chicago Sinai Congregation. And a special thanks to Keith Will for providing the additional holiday entertainment as the visitor from the North Pole!

Check out photos from all of these parties on our Facebook page. And a happy, safe and joyous holiday season to you all!
