COVID-19 Update: 05.15.20

Meals

• Last year in April, we served 1,086 meals, and this year we served 3,582 meals, which is a 230% increase.
• Volunteers from Fight2Feed, a collaborative of chefs from the Culinary Fight Club national cooking competition network, are donating prepared meals which will be distributed at Inspiration Cafe every Tuesday through June 2. 

Inspiration Kitchens

• Our meals production work continues to expand, with three new partner organizations added this week: Institute for Nonviolence, Victory Outreach, and Healthcare Alternatives Systems. With these additions we are now producing more than 800 meals each week.  
• In addition, our hiring partner and generous supporter, Eataly, will be supporting our production efforts and providing lunch for the Franciscan Outreach Annex shelter on Tuesdays beginning this week. 

Outreach

• We have completed the selection process and will be welcoming an Avodah Jewish Service Corps member to support our Outreach program this coming September.

Housing

• Our Employment Navigator has created an online platform for our residents to regularly post job opportunities and help them access employment and income. 

Foodservice Training

• We will be continuing to distribute food boxes to our Foodservice Training students and graduates out of Inspiration Kitchens in East Garfield Park through the month of May through our partnership with Chef Rick Bayless and U.S. Foods.
