The University of Chicago Laboratory Schools has been an incredible partner with Inspiration Corporation for over five years, specifically supporting our efforts at The Living Room Cafe in Woodlawn – this month, we’d like to show our appreciation by naming them Volunteer Organization of the Month for October 2014!
Historically, Lab School volunteers had been bringing groups of students in to serve during our very busy Community Breakfasts twice every month. However, in January 2014, Inspiration Corporation was forced to make the difficult decision to cut Community Breakfasts from our schedule due to the government sequester. Still, through this tough time, our Lab School volunteers were ever eager to find another way to support our programs.
We are now happy to say that we’ve worked with Lab Schools faculty to coordinate another volunteering opportunity for their students, and they’re back on the schedule to cook and serve meals for our participants at another time during the week! We couldn’t be happier to have this amazing group back on board, and we’re eternally grateful for their flexibility and willingness to work around our sometimes tricky schedule.
It’s always impressive to see such loyalty and determination from our youth volunteers – we’re incredibly lucky to partner with the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools, and we’re proud to call them our Volunteer Organization of the Month for October 2014!
