We are pleased to announce that Henrine Hancock is our volunteer of the month for August. Henrine has been a long-time volunteer at The Living Room Cafe, cooking and serving meals as a “Sunday morning regular” for many years.

Derek, one of The Living Room Cafe staff, sums up her work nicely, when he says, “I don’t have to worry about a thing when Henrine is there. No matter what is going on in the cafe, I know she can handle it. I’m always happy when I know she’s coming in.”

We asked her a few questions about her volunteer experience at the organization.

How did you hear about Inspiration Corporation?

I was looking on-line for an organization to volunteer my time as I had recently been laid off from my job.  I wanted to devote my time at one of my passions, cooking.

What is the most enjoyable part of volunteering for you?

Originally the most enjoyable part was preparing the meals for the customers.  But then I realized working as a Server is equally enjoyable.  I like setting the tables and being creative with the Menu board.

What is your volunteer background?

Before I was laid off, I had no volunteer experience.  I also volunteer at Blind Services downtown on State Street.

What are your hobbies, besides volunteering?

Reading, traveling, entertaining, listening to music.  I enjoy learning new tasks.  I am currently learning to read and write Braille.

Thank you, Henrine, for your continued support of Inspiration Corporation, we appreciate all you continue to do for our organization!
