Many thanks go to our volunteer of the month for January, Mike Recine. Mike has been involved with Inspiration Corporation for more than ten years, in just about every way a volunteer can be involved with our organization. Like so many people, Mike started as a volunteer cook in the kitchen at Inspiration Cafe, and made an immediate connection with so many of the participants, staff and other volunteers at the organization.

From there, Mike found out more about the organization, and eventually joined the board in 2005. He was an instrumental part in raising the funds needed to open Inspiration Kitchens – Garfield Park, and was a part of a tremendous growth period at Inspiration Corporation.
Recently, Mike has made it an annual habit to contribute the gifts to the participant holiday parties at both Inspiration Cafe and The Living Room Cafe. Mike takes great pleasure in shopping for holiday gifts for children of all ages, and enjoys spending time passing out the gifts as well. His time and devotion helps bring a bit of holiday cheer to those who don’t get many gifts around Christmas. Even with all of this work, he still finds time to come back where it all started, and cook in the kitchen at Inspiration Cafe.
