Ivy Sarcletti and her husband Chris were both watching the Oscars at different parties in 2009.  At different venues with different groups of friends they both saw the 2009 True North commercial featuring our founder, Lisa Nigro.

Immediately after the commercial aired Ivy sent Chris a text message to tell him that she wanted to volunteer for Inspiration Corporation.  At the same time Chris sent Ivy a text saying the same thing.   They were both simultaneously touched by the commercial and committed to helping Inspiration Corporation.

In the years that followed both Ivy and her husband have helped support our participants at the Living Room Cafe by volunteering for regular meals and Community Thanksgiving.  Ivy has also volunteered through the summer as a regular Tuesday morning breakfast server and helped send out fundraising mailings in the office.

Four years ago, Ivy and Chris realized that they could make an even bigger impact by getting their friends involved as well.  They decided to start a fundraising event for Inspiration Corporation focused on good food and great beer.  Now in its fourth year, Taste of Inspiration brings together Inspiration Corporation supporters and donors at a new restaurant each year.

Check out our events calendar for more information about this year’s event at Revolution Brewing and come out to support Ivy’s incredible work.

Whether in the office, at a meal, or planning an event, Ivy’s commitment to support homelessness and low-income Chicagoans has made her an indispensable part of the Inspiration Corporation Team.  And, it’s made her our September 2012 Volunteer of the Month!
