Charlie Frankel is our volunteer of the month for March! Charlie is one of the longest-serving volunteers in the history of Inspiration Corporation. He has cooked meals, served on the board of directors, and coordinated volunteers for our One Inspired Evening art auction for many years.
Charlie’s beginnings with Inspiration Corporation extend to the days when Inspiration Cafe was merely a small storefront serving meals on Wilson Avenue in Uptown. Among the many odd jobs of his past, he worked as a line-cook putting himself through college, and put those skills to good work serving exquisite meals to those in need at the Cafe. For 17 years, he cooked breakfast every Friday morning, treating our participants to such delicacies as seafood omelets, breakfast burritos, mango pancakes and breakfast pizza. Participants still ask for items like these even though Charlie isn’t a “Friday regular” anymore.
Charlie will roll up his sleeves and help out at One Inspired Evening, as he has every year, in coordinating the art-wrapping and distribution at the end of the night. Wrapping nearly 120 priceless pieces of art in a short period of time is a daunting task, which Charlie and a group of regular volunteers handle with ease.
Thank you again, Charlie, for all you’ve done and continue to do for Inspiration Corporation!
